Suspension Service Singapore

SHOCK ABSORBER
REPLACEMENT
SINGAPORE

Singapore's speed bumps, stop-start traffic, and tropical heat wear out shock absorbers faster than most drivers realise. We replace the full set — absorber, mounting, stopper, and cover — with Original Genuine manufacturer parts (Mercedes-Benz, BMW, Audi, Toyota and more), or quality alternatives from KYB, Monroe, and Bilstein. Done properly, not just the absorber.

The Pitstop Difference

WE REPLACE THE FULL SET

Most workshops only replace the absorber itself and call it done. We replace all four components — because cutting corners here leads to noise, premature wear, and a job that doesn't last.

1
Shock Absorber
The core damping unit. Original Genuine or OEM spec for your exact vehicle.
2
Mounting
The top mount connects the absorber to the chassis. Old mounts cause knocking and vibration.
3
Stopper / Bump Stop
Prevents metal-to-metal contact at full compression. Skipping this causes impact noise and damage.
4
Dust Cover / Boot
Protects the absorber shaft from dirt and moisture. Worn covers accelerate absorber failure.
Why does this matter? Many workshops replace only the absorber to save time and keep the job cheap. Within months, the worn mountings and bump stops cause noise and handling issues — and you're back at the workshop again. We do it once, properly.
Parts Selection

THREE TIERS. ONE HONEST ANSWER.

We carry three levels of parts for every job. The right choice depends on your car, your mileage, and how long you plan to keep it. We'll tell you which one makes sense — not just which one costs more.

Original Brand
ORIGINAL BRAND
OEM supplier brands that manufacture to factory specification — Bilstein, KYB, and Monroe. The same companies that supply parts to car manufacturers, sold independently.

BRANDS WE CARRY & TRUST

Whether you've chosen Original Genuine, Original Brand, or OEM — here's what we stock. Availability varies by vehicle. WhatsApp us your model and we'll confirm what's on hand.

KYB
Original Brand
One of the world's largest OE shock absorber manufacturers — supplying to major car brands at the factory level. Widely available, reliable, and a direct like-for-like replacement for most Japanese and Korean vehicles.
Monroe
Original Brand
A global OEM supplier known for consistent ride quality across a wide range of vehicles. Strong fitment coverage across European, Japanese, and American makes.
Bilstein
Original Brand
German-engineered monotube absorbers. OEM supplier to Mercedes-Benz, Porsche, and other European manufacturers. Known for handling precision and longer service life compared to twin-tube designs.
Stock varies by vehicle make and model. Once you've decided between Original Genuine or OEM, WhatsApp us your car details and we'll confirm what's available and advise accordingly.
Pricing

WHAT AFFECTS THE COST?

Shock absorber replacement pricing in Singapore varies. Here's what determines the final cost — so you know what to expect before you ask.

01
Your Car Make & Model
Parts pricing varies significantly by vehicle. A Toyota Vios and a BMW 5 Series use completely different absorbers at very different price points. Japanese cars are generally more affordable; European and luxury cars cost more.
02
Brand Choice
KYB and Monroe are the most cost-effective options. Bilstein sits at a higher price point but offers better longevity. We'll tell you honestly if the premium is worth it for your specific car.
03
Front vs Rear vs Full Set
Front absorbers generally cost more to replace due to access complexity. We recommend replacing in pairs (both fronts or both rears) at minimum — replacing just one creates uneven handling.
04
Full Set vs Absorber Only
We replace the full set — absorber, mounting, stopper, and cover — every time. Workshops that quote only for the absorber are leaving out the other components. Always compare like-for-like.

SIGNS OF WORN SHOCK ABSORBERS

Shock absorbers wear gradually — most drivers don't realise they need replacement until the symptoms become obvious. Don't wait until it affects your safety.

Bouncing or bobbing after bumps
If your car continues to bounce after going over a bump rather than settling quickly, your shock absorbers are no longer damping correctly.
Knocking or clunking over rough roads
A metallic knock over speed bumps or potholes usually means a worn mounting or bump stop — part of the full set most workshops miss.
Uneven or accelerated tyre wear
Worn shock absorbers cause the tyre to bounce off the road surface rather than maintaining constant contact — leading to patchy or uneven wear patterns.
Car nose-dives when braking
Excessive forward dip under braking indicates the front shock absorbers are no longer controlling weight transfer effectively — which increases stopping distance.
Pulling or drifting in corners
Body roll and instability through corners point to shock absorbers that can no longer control lateral movement — a safety concern on Singapore's highways.
Over 80,000 km and never replaced
Shock absorbers typically lose significant damping efficiency after 60,000–80,000 km — even without obvious symptoms. In Singapore's stop-start traffic and frequent speed bumps, wear accelerates faster than most expect.
Oil misting or leaking on the strut
Visible oil or dampness running down the side of your shock absorber strut is a definitive sign of seal failure. The absorber is no longer working correctly and needs immediate replacement.
How It Works

SIMPLE 3-STEP PROCESS

No complicated forms. Just WhatsApp us and we'll take care of the rest.

1
Step 01
WhatsApp Your Car Details
Send us your car model, year, and what you're experiencing. We'll advise on the right parts (Original Genuine, Original Brand, or OEM) and confirm pricing before you come in.
2
Step 02
Drive In for Your Appointment
Full shock absorber set replacement — absorber, mounting, stopper, and cover. Suspension bushings are torqued at ride height, not at full droop. Typically completed within 2–3 hours.
3
Step 03
Alignment & You're Done
Every suspension job ends with a Hunter Hawkeye 4-wheel alignment — included in the job. You drive out with everything done properly, under one roof.
Hunter Hawkeye Elite — Dealership-Grade 4-Wheel Alignment, Included
Most workshops send you to a second shop for alignment after suspension work. We have the Hunter Hawkeye Elite — the same machine used by authorised dealerships — in-house. Every shock absorber job includes a full 4-wheel alignment at no extra charge. One stop, done right.
Why We Preload Suspension Bushings at Ride Height
Most workshops tighten suspension bushings with the car on a lift — wheels hanging at full droop. This means the rubber bushing is already twisted under load the moment you drive off. Over time, that pre-twisted position accelerates wear and causes premature failure. At Pitstop, we torque all suspension bushings with the car at ride height — weight on the wheels, suspension in its natural position. The bushing settles correctly, wears evenly, and lasts significantly longer. It takes more time and effort. It's the right way to do it.
Common Questions

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Straight answers — no jargon.

Pricing depends on your vehicle make and model, and whether you choose Original Genuine, Original Brand, or OEM parts. WhatsApp us your car model for a clear, upfront quote. We include alignment in every job — so what you see is what you pay, with no surprise add-ons at the end.
When an absorber wears out, the mounting, bump stop, and dust cover are typically at the same stage of wear. Replacing just the absorber and reusing worn ancillary parts is a false economy — the knocking and noise come back within months. We replace all four components every time, which is the correct way to do the job.
Yes — always. Suspension work affects your wheel alignment angles. Skipping alignment after a shock absorber replacement causes uneven tyre wear and affects handling. At Pitstop, Hunter Hawkeye 4-wheel alignment is included with every shock absorber job — no extra cost, no second trip.
For newer cars or those you plan to keep long-term, Original Genuine or Original Brand parts are the better investment. For older vehicles or high-mileage cars where the rest of the suspension is also aging, quality OEM parts are a practical and cost-effective choice. We'll give you an honest recommendation based on your car — not the more expensive option by default.
When a car is on a lift, the wheels hang at full droop — the suspension is at its most extended position. Most workshops tighten suspension bushings in this position because it's faster. The problem: once the car is back on the ground, the bushings are already twisted away from their natural resting position. Every time you drive, the rubber fights against that pre-loaded twist, which accelerates wear and causes premature bushing failure. The correct method is to torque the bushings with the car at ride height — weight on the wheels, suspension in its natural loaded position. The rubber sits correctly, moves freely, and lasts as it should. It takes more effort. We do it anyway.
A full set replacement including alignment typically takes 2–3 hours depending on the vehicle. We'll confirm the timing when you book your appointment so you can plan your day.
